The 2022 VMA’s were already memorable given a slew of epic performances and Taylor Swift’s surprise appearance, but the singer-songwriter managed to top the experience by unveiling a brand-new album, titled ‘Midnights.’

During the Sunday night event, Swift revealed the news while receiving her third Video of the Year award for her 10-minute rendition of “All Too Well.”

“Midnights”, which serves as her tenth studio album, is slated for October 21st, and will be the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore.’

Swift said to her fans on stage: “I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it weren’t for you. You emboldened me to do that. And I had made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this [award], I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out Oct. 21. And I will tell you more at midnight.”

Moments ago, Swift took to social media to share more details about the album, with the caption: “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”

A statement shared along with the post reads, “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams,” she wrote. “The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”

Swift won the VMAs’ Best Longform Video and Best Direction awards in addition to “Video of the Year.” “All Too Well” is nominated for best live-action short at the 2023 Oscars.

The multi-Grammy Award winner has been busy in recent months. Following the release of “Fearless” (Taylor’s Version) and “Red” (Taylor’s Version) last year, Swift was named the first global ambassador for Record Store Day, she also inducted Carole King into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and got an honorary doctorate from NYU.
