As he had promised his fans several times ahead of the bout, Youtuber KSI returned to the ring and gave them two victories for the price of one.
Following the withdrawal of Alex Wassabi, 31, a few weeks before the bout, the multi-hyphenate star made up for lost time by challenging two opponents in one evening, after a three-year hiatus.
The night began with KSI, 29, defeating UK rapper Swarmz, 25, in two rounds, before facing off Mexican professional boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda, 23, who lost in the third round.
Taking the stage soon after winning, the influencer-turned-musician and fighter, stated: “Ladies and gentleman, are you not entertained? “It’s good to be back, two fights in one night, two KOs, yeah buddy. I said it. I talk the talk and I walk the walk.”
During the fight, Pineda oddly protested about nonexistent blows to the back of the head as he got knocked out in each round.
KIS landed a right hand and an uppercut to knock down Pineda in the final round, at which point the referee had had enough. Rapper Swarmz, who only had a few weeks to prepare for the bout, was equally knocked out quickly and in a non-competitive manner.
KSI’s triumph follows extensive promotional efforts for the event, including the release of a new track, “Not Over Yet,” featuring Tom Grennan, which has subsequently earned widespread praise.
During the fight night, fans were also treated to a remixed version of the song featuring Headie One and Nines. The remix, like the Tom Grennan-featured track, lived up to the hype, especially since the rapper had promised to KO two competitors in a night.
