Taylor Swift continued her reign as a music icon at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, claiming 10 awards and bringing her lifetime total to an unprecedented 49 wins, a new record in the history of the awards show.

In her acceptance speech, delivered remotely after a visit to a Kansas City children’s hospital, Swift expressed heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you to the Billboard Awards. Thank you to the fans, because Billboard is counting your stuff. They’re counting what you listen to, the albums that you’re passionate about, so I count these as like fan-voted awards because you guys are the ones who care about our albums and come see us in concert.”
Swift, who celebrated her 35th birthday the following day, called the wins “the nicest early birthday present” and reflected on the overwhelming success of The Eras Tour and her latest album.
The 2024 Billboard Music Awards honoured a range of artists across diverse genres. Key winners included: Dua Lipa who won Top Dance/Electronic Song for “Houdini,” Tommy Richman – Took home Top R&B Male Artist and Top R&B Song for “Million Dollar Baby,” Morgan Wallen also dominated country categories with Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist, and Top Collaboration for “I Had Some Help” featuring Post Malone, with SZA securing Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Female Artist honours.
Additionally, Drake bagged Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, and Top Rap Album for For All the Dogs, Bad Bunny claimed Top Latin Artist, Top Latin Male Artist, and Top Latin Album, Tyla won Top Afrobeats Artist and Top Afrobeats Song for “Water,” Charli XCX earned Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Dance/Electronic Album for BRAT, Jung Kook triumphed with Top K-Pop Album for GOLDEN and Top Global K-Pop Song for “Standing Next to You,” with CeCe Winans winning the Top Gospel Artist and Top Gospel Song for “That’s My King.”
Dua Lipa, appearing remotely due to tour commitments, shared her excitement: “Thank you for all the love and support and for dancing with me to Houdini. It means the world to me.”
