The first headliner for the Glastonbury Festival in 2022 has been announced and it’s non-other than Billie Eilish.
The ‘Getting Older’ singer teased the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself in a Glastonbury hoodie with the words “2022,” captioned across the post.
Soon after, the show’s organizer Emily Eavis confirmed Billie’s involvement while also stating that the 20-year-old will also be “the youngest solo headliner in our history,” and that it “feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!”
In addition, the pop star will be the first female headliner since 2016, as Taylor Swift’s 2020 performance was canceled due to the global crisis. While fans had high hopes to attend this year’s festival, organizers announced that it has been postponed yet again due to pandemic challenges.
However, a virtual event was streamed to fans at the comfort of their homes, with the likes of Coldplay, Wolf Alice, and Jorja Smith, taking the stage.
Eilish previously debuted at Glastonbury Festival in 2019, where audiences were treated to “mesmerising” and “life-affirming” performance, according to Variety, with NME naming the act as a “once-in-a-generation” show.
Here’s to hoping for an even more exciting performance on the Pyramid stage next June.
