Music veteran, Anita Baker, commended Chance the Rapper after her performance on stage last weekend, for aiding her in securing the masters to her music catalog.

Baker expressed her gratitude to Chance following her epic performance on stage, saying:

“You should say hello to a friend of mine by way of the music industry and by way of helping me, helping me to get a hold and ownership of my master recordings,” Anita said on stage while pointing at Chance who was also in attendance.

Chance also took to Twitter to share his appreciation for Baker’s kind words on stage, writing:

“I saw one of THE greatest performances of my LIFETIME last night,” Chance replied to Lonnell Williams’ above tweet. “Thank you so much @IAMANITABAKER for being an inspiration and an icon to so many of US.”

Anita also took to Twitter after the show to respond to Chance’s tweet, writing: “Had no idea you would be in our Midst. Such a nice Surprise. Brought Tears, to my eyes. Hope Ms. Essence enjoyed her Birthday ABXO.”

Anita’s reply would impress CTR even more, and the rapper would go on to share why he thinks Anita is such a “incredible person.”

Chance tweeted, “WOW the fact that you remembered my friends name AND that it was her birthday just echoes what an INCREDIBLE PERSON you are on top of all that you’ve given artistically. Honored and blessed to call you friend miss
@IAMANITABAKER”

Anita’s on-stage appreciation comes about a year after she announced on Twitter that she will reclaim control of her masters, tweeting:
