Marvel’s final trailer for the hotly-anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been unveiled, revealing some troubling times ahead for the tingling sensation. Parker is seen fighting crime full-time in a world that has forgotten him, while he witnesses MJ and Ned move on without remembering who he is.

What follows is a series of moments suggesting something is shifting inside him, as he develops organic webs, his eyes black out completely, while his Aunt May‘s voice guides him through it all in voice-over, even though she is gone.

The fights, however, are the expected Spider-Man fare, with the likes of Scorpion, Hulk, The Hand making an appearance for this instalment, and at one point Peter fights himself. But the trailer’s weight sits on his transformation and on something invisible tearing through New York. Sadie Sink appears in a hoodie looking like Jean Grey in the middle of it all, as a mysterious hooded figure in black emerges as a new threat. Interestingly, Frank CastleThe Punisher — shows up to help.

The cast now includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tramell Tillman, and Marvin Jones III, all newcomers to the Spider-Man universe.

The official synopsis frames it plainly: Peter‘s transformation might be the only thing that can stop “a powerful villain no one can even see.” That is both the mystery and the promise — something is coming that requires Peter to become something he is not sure he wants to be.

Truly exciting, we can’t wait!
