London-raised R&B artist Ama released her sophomore album AMA on June 19th via ISO Supremacy and PULSE Records. The record strips things back to the emotional core — minimalist production, sensual writing, stacked harmonies, close vocal control — and does not reach for anything that is not needed to tell the story.
The lead single “Holding Back,” produced by Dpat, sits in restrained intimacy against ambient tension. Tracks like “So…” and “Need It Bad” with Brent Faiyaz explore ego, regret, and emotional distance without overthinking any of it. Bryson Tiller appears on “Aura,” which deepens the R&B context while keeping the focus on Ama‘s voice and perspective. The album avoids abstraction, by being rather direct.
That sensibility extends beyond the music, as she has a collaboration with Salomon on the XT-Whisper Void Sneaker — a gender-inclusive design described as technical, feminine, precise, and mood-led. It is the same language she speaks in the songs, just moved into another medium.
Ama will support Ella Mai on the “Do You Still Love Me?” North American tour from July 7th through August 28th, hitting Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago, and Atlanta among other cities.
