Shakira and Tyla shared the stage at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Mexico City on June 11th, and by the time the night was done, Shakira had announced on social media that Tyla would be joining her as a special guest on the U.S. leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. “I love Tyla,” she wrote. “I love her as an artist and as a human being. I think she’s just amazing. I think this performance is going to be simply iconic.”

At the ceremony, Shakira headlined alongside Burna Boy, performing the official World Cup anthem “Dai Dai,” while Tyla delivered a rendition of “Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” — the South African national anthem — accompanied by the Mzansi Youth Choir. It was the kind of performance that does not need much context to land, and it clearly left an impression on more than just the crowd in Mexico City.
The North American leg of Shakira‘s tour kicked off June 13th at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles across two consecutive nights. Remaining stops include San Jose, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Baltimore, Boston, Newark, Brooklyn, Belmont Park, and Atlantic City. While exact dates for Tyla‘s appearances have yet to be confirmed, the tour has already set a Guinness World Record as the highest-grossing trek by a Latin artist. Amid her North American tour, Shakira will return to the World Cup stage to co-headline the final halftime show at MetLife Stadium on July 19th alongside Madonna and BTS.
For Tyla, the invitation follows a stretch of months that have been hard to keep up with. A Grammy, a sold-out tour, a landmark Toy Story 5 voice role, a FIFA World Cup anthem, and now a special guest slot with one of the biggest touring acts in the world.
