The residences of Marlo Hampton of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Brad Guzan of Atlanta United, and Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons have been named among the celebrity homes broken into by a street gang in Atlanta.
The houses of well-known sportsmen, artists, and other people who showcase valuable belongings on social media in the Atlanta region have been targeted, according to a prosecutor, who on Monday (Aug. 29) unveiled a broad indictment against members of what she described as a violent street gang.
According to the indictment, properties belonging to the singer Mariah Carey, Marlo Hampton of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Brad Guzan of Atlanta United, Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons, and Marlo Hampton were all broken into. Among the 26 defendants charged in the 220-count indictment on August 22nd, the majority are suspected of breaking Georgia’s anti-gang and racketeering statutes.
The alleged crimes named in the indictment include carjacking, kidnapping, armed robbery, shootings, and home invasions, according to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. The Drug Rich gang members were also accused of targeting social media influencers.
Ms. Willis stated: “What they do is target people who show their wealth on social media. So I do have a message for the public: Where it is kind of fun to put your things on social media and show off, unfortunately these gangs are becoming more savvy, more sophisticated in the way that they target you.”
Sending a strong message to the alleged gang members, Willis added:
“If you thought Fulton was a good county to bring your crime to, to bring your violence to, you are wrong and you are going suffer consequences and today is the start of some of those consequences.”
Willis then made her stance on prosecution clearly known, stating:
“I am not going to negotiate with gang members. I am not going to allow pleas,” she said. “We are going to find you, we are going to convict you and we’re going to send you to the prison for the rest of your days, and I’m not apologizing for that.”
