A$AP Rocky has spoken publicly about the shooting at his and Rihanna‘s Beverly Hills home earlier this year, telling VIBE that the incident has had a lasting effect on how he moves through daily life. “It was f**ked up,” he said. “Somebody attempted at me and my family. It took away a lot of peace and happiness of being able to just be free. I don’t want to be robbed of my peace and joy.”
On March 8th, a woman named Ivana Lisette Ortiz fired ten shots at the couple’s home. According to the criminal complaint, the attack was described as willful, deliberate, and premeditated. Prosecutors noted that Ortiz had previously posted disturbing content about Rihanna on social media before showing up at the property.
Ortiz has since pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder, ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. She is being held on $1.875 million bail. If convicted on all charges, she faces life in prison.
Rocky did not go into detail beyond what he shared with VIBE, but the weight of it came through clearly enough. The couple share sons RZA and Riot, and daughter Rocki. What he described — trying to get back to some version of normal after something like that — is not a small thing to work through, regardless of whom you are.
