The teaser trailer for ‘Fightland‘ is out, with the series set to premiere on Sky and streaming service NOW this summer. It marks Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson‘s first internationally produced show through G-Unit Film & Television, and the setup is tight.
On the night Duke Kilroy becomes world heavyweight champion, his brother Calvin is murdered. Duke‘s reaction costs him eight years in a US prison. When he gets out, he comes home with one objective — finding Kingsley Marshall, the criminal kingpin and former promoter he believes set him up. The problem: Kingsley has vanished, leaving his empire in the hands of his family, including Joy — played by Deborah Ayorinde — who also happens to be the love of Duke‘s life. Duke‘s plan is to infiltrate the empire from the inside, working alongside a cartel trying to control London’s drug market, while navigating loyalty, love, and the kind of violence that does not stay contained.
The thrilling series has Howard Charles playing Duke, with Nicholas Pinnock playing Kingsley. The supporting cast includes Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Charles Babalola, Tahirah Sharif, Tyler Conti, and Richard Pepple. The series was created by Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, with showrunners Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. — whose credits span ‘Power‘, ‘BMF‘, and ‘Genius: MLK/X‘ — steering the ship. Otto Bathurst, who directed episodes of ‘Peaky Blinders‘, helms the first two.
The DNA here is familiar if you know 50 Cent‘s television work, and from his previous successes with the ‘Power‘ franchise, fans are in for wuite the thrill.
We can’t wait!
