Rapman announced on June 3rd that filming for Supacell Season 2 has wrapped, sharing the news on Instagram with a photo of himself in the editing suite, “Supacell 2” visible on the screen behind him. “Due to circumstances out of our control we had to pause production for a while,” he wrote. “But filming is finally done! I’m currently in the edit getting it ready. It’s coming and I PROMISE it will be worth the wait.”
The update follows Rapman‘s confirmation of season two’s production last October, posting a photo of a script and asking fans to be patient. Production then stalled for reasons he has not gone into detail about. For a show that arrived in 2024 to genuine critical acclaim and a fanbase that was invested from the start, the wait has not been easy and it is not quite over yet. No release date has been announced.

For anyone who needs a reminder of where things stand: Season 1 ended badly for Michael. In the final confrontation, he watched Dionne die in his arms, having burned through his last reserves of energy and left with nothing to rewind time and save her. The closing scene then pulled back the curtain on Victoria — a sickle cell researcher who, it turns out, has been running a facility that captures and experiments on powered individuals. Two years on, that is still where things were left.
The show follows five Black South Londoners — Michael, Dionne, Sabrina, Andre, Rodney, and Tazer — whose powers are linked to the sickle cell trait. What made Season 1 land was not just the superhero premise but the setting and the specificity of it: South London, Black British lives, stories that do not usually get this kind of platform. Eddie Marsan plays Ray, the antagonist connected to the shadowy agency that Victoria runs.
Season 2 is now in post-production and we can’t wait!
