Kehlani has released the official video for “Back and Forth,” her collaboration with Missy Elliott, and it is exactly what the song calls for. Directed by Director X, the clip is set inside a packed house party where the two trade energy across the track’s runtime. Monica makes a surprise cameo, and between the three of them, there is not a lot of wattage left in the room for anyone else.
The song comes from Kehlani‘s self-titled album, which she released in April 2026 on her birthday. It debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 with 69,000 equivalent album units — the biggest opening week for an R&B album by a woman this year. The offering topped the R&B Albums chart and became her fourth top-ten album and third top-five project.
A lot of the album’s momentum traces back to “Folded,” which won Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song, went double platinum, and set a record for how long it stayed at the top of Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
Kehlani will take the album on the road with The Kehlani World Tour, kicking off August 6th in Minneapolis. The North American leg runs through October, hitting Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Boston, and San Francisco among others, with Durand Bernarr, Isaia Huron, TheARTI$t, and WASEEL supporting on select dates. The European and UK leg follows from late November, with stops in Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, London, and Manchester.
