Harry Styles kicked off the Together, Together world tour in Amsterdam in front of almost 50,000 fans, and from the first moments it was clear this was not going to be a restrained affair. He opened with “Are You Listening Yet?,” “Golden,” and “Watermelon Sugar,” skipping across the ramps before the crowd had even settled, and set the tone immediately: “Have as much fun as I’m going to have.”
The elaborate stage was built for movement — three ramps spanning a football field, a metallic ski-jump-like structure, giant video screens, and lighting that gave the whole thing a Candyland quality. Styles used all of it, sashaying through ballroom-meets-Bee Gees dance moves, offering clasped hands toward the crowd, and conducting the room like a man who genuinely cannot believe how good this is going. The fans matched the energy too, with a sea of bouncing people in pink hair, dress shirts, and ties, many dressed in tribute to Styles‘ own stage looks.
The 21-song set drew from all four solo albums, including Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. A new instrumental called “Italian Girls” made its debut, embodying the tour’s ethos directly. Mid-show, he stopped to sing “Happy Birthday” to a fan and gave a shoutout to his mother in the audience, making the small moments land as hard as the big ones.
He was also, as he tends to be, earnest in the best possible way, remarking: “Be open to people — your friends, strangers, people close to you or far away,” he told the crowd. “Live and exist with your integrity and respect for one another.” On the topic of reaching out to people in a world that makes vulnerability feel uncool: “I think trying is the coolest thing you can do,” he said.
He closed with “As It Was,” traversing every ramp with his arms outstretched — less a finale, more a victory lap.
