According to The Associated Press, two concertgoers have died following the incident at GloRilla’s New York concert.

The news comes after reports that Rhondesia Belton, 33, had died, and that two 35-year-olds were undergoing treatment and were in critical condition, as well as seven others, who were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police Chief David M. Smith claims that the stampede was brought on by unfounded concerns of a shooting at the concert, which was held in the Main Street Armory.

Smith said in a statement at the time: “We do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired or of anyone being shot or stabbed at the scene.”

Adding, “What began last night as a night of live music and fun for the performer GloRilla ended in tragedy with one person dead and two more fighting for their lives.”

Authorities are looking into whether variables, including “possibly crowd size, shots fired, pepper spray, and other contributing factors,” led to the initial panic that resulted in the deadly stampede.

According to a statement from Rochester Police Lt. Nicholas Adams, “no evidence to support a shooting having occurred.” However, is confirmed that a stampede occured after concertgoers started to leave the venue.

GloRilla expressed her concern for everyone’s well-being in a tweet shared on Sunday (march 5th).

She tweeted, “I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf 😢😢😢praying everybody is ok 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼”

The stampede was described as “a tragedy of epic proportions” by Rochester Mayor Malik Evans, who also said that more inquiry will be conducted. Adding, “We are going to hold people accountable for what happened last night, period.”
