Eminem has unveiled a chilling new music video for “Tobey,” the latest track from his forthcoming album The Death of Slim Shady.

The video, directed by Cole Bennett, depicts Eminem alongside fellow Michigan rappers Big Sean and BabyTron, who are seen in various settings, including a warehouse and a club, with digital effects creating multiple versions of themselves.

The narrative takes a dark turn as Eminem, during his verse, finds himself in a grim basement. A figure wearing a Jason Vorhees mask emerges, revealing Eminem himself as the assailant, symbolically ending his Slim Shady persona.
“Tobey” is the second release from Eminem‘s anticipated album, set to drop on July 12th. The album has been teased since spring, with a mockumentary trailer and a faux obituary in the Detroit Free Press hinting at the demise of Slim Shady.

The album’s first single, “Houdini,” was released in May this year, playfully suggesting it would make Eminem‘s career “disappear.” It features samples from Eminem‘s hit “Without Me” and Steve Miller’s “Abracadabra,” earning praise from Miller himself.

The Death of Slim Shady marks Eminem‘s 12th studio album, following his 2020 release, Music to Be Murdered By. This new project promises to be a significant addition to the rapper’s storied career, as it explores the conclusion of his iconic alter ego.
