Rapper DaBaby has come under fire for making derogatory remarks against homosexuals and those living with HIV during his performance on stage at the Rolling Loud Festival.
The ‘Nasty’ rapper could be heard making remarks about “sucking d**k” in the parking lot and people dying from HIV in video footage posted on social media.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two, three weeks, then put your cellphone light up,” DaBaby said.
“Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put a cellphone light them up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot put your cellphone light up. Keep it real.”
The video soon went viral on social media, with many people criticizing the rapper for spreading stigmatizing and incorrect HIV information.
Dababy’s statements angered many, who then took to social media to explain that due to antiretroviral drugs, which was introduced more than two decades ago, people with HIV can now live long and fulfilled lives.
The rapper was also chastised by the Terrence Higgins Trust, a nonprofit dedicated to HIV prevention and education.
Richard Angell, campaigns director at the Terrence Higgins Trust, told PinkNews:
“It’s wrong for people living with HIV to be made to feel lesser or excluded because of their diagnosis – it should be unacceptable in the musical industry and in society at large.
“Comments like DaBaby’s perpetuate HIV-related stigma and discrimination, as well as spreading misinformation about HIV. You can now live a long, healthy life with HIV thanks to medical progress when you’re diagnosed and accessing treatment.
“That’s why it’s important to challenge anything that deters people from testing and learning the facts about HIV.”

I'm not a fan of cancel culture but its time for the industry to let go of DaBaby. His comments specifically targeted people living with HIV, AIDS, women, and gay men, unprovoked. Not only was it ignorant as hell, offensive but sir, what the hell is wrong with you? He has to go.
