Taking to social media shortly after the epic Verzuz showdown between Fat Joe and Ja Rule last night, Sept. 14th at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York City, Jermaine Dupri had some words for music legend Diddy as the former was feeling nostalgic following the event.

Sharing on Twitter, Dupri wrote: “Somebody let @Diddy know I’m @thegarden right now ! And he gon need some training for me,” implying that he’s set to go hit-for-hit on Verzuz with Love.

While his tweet was appreciated by fans and music lovers in general, Diddy would respond to the offer, leaving fans saddened.

Love wrote on Twitter: “Beloved you my nigga but your arms too short to box with God!!! You aiint got enough hits. I’ll smash you with just biggie n Mary.”

Adding: “But I do have the upmost respect on you as a musical legend – Dre the only one can get in the ring w me . – LOVE 🖤”

While many people understand Diddy’s response, many feel Dupri could have held his own in a battle with Diddy, but we’ll never know with certainty.

Speaking of Dre on Verzuz, the show’s co-founder and producer, Swizz Beatz recently claimed that Dre was scheduled to come on Verzuz for a show, only to bail out due to technical issues with sound during Teddy Riley and Babyface’s battle.

“When Dr. Dre wasn’t feeling the sound from Teddy Riley and Babyface, that hurt our heart. Oh my God,” Swizz said during a March 2021 Breakfast Club interview. “He was supposed to come at the end and announce that he was gon’ do VERZUZ that night… He got on the phone, he was like ‘man, I can’t be a part of nothing that sound like that, my legacy is quality’. I was like ‘oh, we just lost Dre’… that one felt pretty crazy.”
