In the aftermath of the success of Kendrick Lamar‘s Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” which has stirred the pot culturally, Drake‘s loyalists and detractors alike are on high alert for his response.
Eagle-eyed fans have been dissecting Drake‘s social media for hints, leading to speculation that a collaboration with Siedah Garrett, Michael Jackson‘s famed co-vocalist and co-writer of “Man in the Mirror,” might be in the works. The theory was sparked by Drake‘s recent follow of Garrett, but was quickly debunked by DJ Akademiks, renowned for being a staunch supporter of the Toronto rapper.

Akademiks has also voiced scepticism about the legitimacy of streaming numbers, suggesting that Kendrick‘s recent success might be inflated by fake streams. He asserts that digital marketing teams often purchase fake streams to boost an artist’s visibility, a practice that goes largely undetected by streaming platforms.

In a series of tweets, Akademiks expressed his disillusionment with the music industry’s tendency to fabricate artists’ images, calling the entire system rigged. Despite this, he reassures fans that new music from Drake is imminent and worth the anticipation.
