Davido gears up for the release of his sixth studio album, ORIADÉ, on July 31th. The title — a fusion of Yoruba words “ori” meaning head or destiny, and “adé” meaning crown — and the release marks the 15th anniversary of his music career, with the lead single, ”I Know Who I Be” arriving on June 26.

Davido framed the album as a celebration of his journey and a way to push African music globally. He told Billboard: “Over fifteen years ago, I made a decision to trust something I couldn’t fully explain. I just knew music was my destiny. ORIADÉ is a celebration of the journey that led me to where I am now.”

He went on, “To be in a position where I can help push African music forward around the world is something I’ll never take for granted. I hope when people hear my new album, they understand that purpose doesn’t always follow the expected path. The biggest blessings often come from betting on yourself, even when the destination isn’t in sight yet.”

The album arrives during a landmark year for Davido, who made his Coachella debut on April 11 with a 45-minute performance featuring a surprise appearance by Adekunle Gold. He collaborated with Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado on “No Place Like Home,” which appears on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack. The trio performed the track at the World Cup countdown concert in Los Angeles on June 10th, during which Davido wore a custom jacket bearing the names of abducted students and teachers from Oyo State in Nigeria, using his platform to highlight the ongoing crisis.

ORIADÉ follows Davido’s 2025 album 5ive achieved his fifth consecutive top five entry on Billboard’s World Albums chart.
