T.I. returns with his twelfth and final studio album, Kill The King. The project features 18 tracks with guest appearances from Usher, Anderson .Paak, 2 Chainz, Jeezy, T-Pain, NBA YoungBoy, Summer Walker, and The-Dream, among others. Production credits include Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, Organized Noize, Turbo, Juicy J, and DJ Toomp.
The release follows TIP’s announcement of his retirement from solo albums at the 2026 Grammy Awards, positioning this release as the closing chapter of his discography.
The album’s title draws from a chess metaphor, as kill the king symbolizes the pressure and target that comes with being hip-hop’s self-proclaimed King of the South. T.I. first conceptualized this approach in 2017, mapping out his final three albums to culminate with Kill The King. He recalled taking advice from Big Boi of OutKast, who warned that claiming the crown places a bullseye on your back.
T.I. framed his retirement around gratitude and perspective, reflecting on his journey from aspiring rapper to Grammy-winning artist, asserting he has achieved everything he prayed for. He also acknowledged the saturation of today’s rap scene and expressed a desire to make room for new artists. However, he clarified that he is not leaving music entirely, noting that soundtrack work, collaborations, and ventures in film, television, and real estate remain possible.
“I done did this, man, I danced this dance quite some time,” he told The Breakfast Club. “You know, just remembering where I was as a kid, man, and requesting songs on the radio, waiting to see my favorite video, buying The Source magazine, waiting to watch Video Music Box, just praying for an opportunity to be in the game. And man, going from that kid then to this man now, I got everything I prayed for.”
Meanwhile, his lead single “Let ‘Em Know,” produced by Pharrell, marks a symbolic moment when T.I. cut his iconic dreads in the accompanying video. The track became his first Top 40 hit since 2014 and the first RIAA gold record of 2026. Follow-up singles included “Trauma Bond,” featuring Tuskegee University’s Marching Crimson Pipers, and “Mr. Him,” another Pharrell production, showcasing both introspection and commercial hit-making energy.
The King Succession Tour launches July 8th in Phoenix, with his sons Domani and King Harris as opening acts. Tour stops include Dallas, Houston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, with the final show scheduled for August 15th. The tour is billed as a multi-generational hip-hop moment, offering fans a final opportunity to witness T.I. perform his catalog. Notable family collaborations appear throughout the album, including features from his daughter Heiress Harris and appearances from his sons on the tour.
