The family of XXXTentacion, who was murdered in Florida in 2018, will finally receive justice after three individuals were found guilty of the heinous act.
The American rapper, born Jahseh Onfroy was fatally shot while being robbed outside of a motorcycle shop in South Florida.
After years of investigations, a US court on Monday (March 20) found three men, Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
The three men are presently awaiting their sentencing trials, which are expected to result in mandatory life sentences, according to legal experts.
State prosecutors connected the defendants to the deadly shooting outside Riva Motorsports in suburban Fort Lauderdale, during which Onfroy was robbed of $50,000, during the month-long trial.
At the time, Onfroy and a companion were leaving the motorbike store when their BMW was blocked by an unknown vehicle, after which two masked gunmen may be seen on surveillance footage approaching the rapper at his driver’s window.
The rapper was then shot repeatedly by one of the gunmen, after which the men took his Louis Vuitton bag which was reported to contain money he’d withdrawn from the bank. The trio then fled from the scene.
During the trial, CCTV footage from both inside and outside the store, as well as phone videos the men took showing them flaunting fistfuls of $100 notes hours after the murder, were shown to the jury members.
Robert Allen, a former acquaintance of the defendants who claimed to have participated in the crime, also testified against them in court.
According to Allen, the men had planned to rob someone that day, but when they went to the motorcycle store to purchase Williams a mask, they saw the rapper and took a decision to rob him.
Williams and Allen entered the store to make sure it was really him.
The Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale was informed that they then returned to the car they had leased, waited for XXXTentacion to emerge, and attacked him.
Allen, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year, currently awaits sentencing as this trial is still ongoing.
XXXTentacion is believed to have been survived by a child, however, information regarding the child and mother has been concealed.
