Stormzy is making his next major move—this time, behind and in front of the camera. The British music icon has officially launched #Merky Films, a new production venture under his influential #Merky brand, aiming to champion bold British storytelling and emerging creative talent across film and television.
The first project to debut under the new banner is “Big Man,” a short film that marks Stormzy’s first lead acting role. The film is directed by Academy Award-winner Aneil Karia (The Long Goodbye) and produced in collaboration with Apple. Notably, the entire film was shot on the iPhone 16 Pro, showcasing a blend of cutting-edge technology and deeply human storytelling. Big Man is set to premiere on June 18th, 2025, on YouTube at 8:00 p.m. BST.
The story follows Tenzman, a former rap star whose life is clouded by self-doubt and disconnection. That changes when two mischievous boys, Klevis and Tyrell, crash into his world. Their unexpected bond rekindles Tenzman’s creative fire and sense of purpose, unfolding a narrative rich in youthful spirit, gratitude, and rediscovery.

Looking beyond Big Man, #Merky Films has an ambitious slate in development, including a drama series, a seminal biopic, several documentaries, an animated project, and a mockumentary. Each production promises to align with the company’s mission: to amplify authentic, culturally resonant stories that inspire and empower.
