After several months of absence, Verzuz fans have been anticipating the show’s return with bated breath, and it looks as though a huge face-off is on the way.
In a recent video released on social media by rap veteran Busta Rhymes, Diddy is seen informing the “Touch It” hitmaker that he’d be going off against Jermaine Dupri in a Verzuz showdown.
Diddy says to Busta, “We’re gon’ have you out the rafters flying out the sky.”
While the Verzuz co-founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz have yet to confirm the news, Dupri and Diddy have long been teasing the potential duel, with the latter saying to the renowned DJ:
“If you want that smoke, you can get that smoke anytime,” Diddy said during an IG Live in August.
Unlike the customary Verzuz showdowns, however, the two decided to perform their respective singles back-to-back in a more performance-based style.
Diddy said during the IG Live, “Since we ain’t fucking with Verzuz no more since ’cause they fucking around with our boys, we don’t need to be going against each other. Let’s come together and do that Bad Boy, So So Def in Atlanta. It ain’t no Verzuz, it’s just hit for hit.”
Love’s above statement was in reference to Triller’s $28 million lawsuit from Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, who claim they weren’t fully compensated for the amount that Triller paid for Verzuz in January 2021. Since then, Triller has settled the lawsuit with the Verzuz co-founders.
