South London singer-songwriter Skye Newman has released her debut project SE9 Part 1. Named after her childhood postcode, the six-track body of work is a deeply personal and emotional coming-of-age story that explores themes of family, trauma, resilience, and self-discovery.

Leading the release is the powerful single “FU & UF”, a defiant anthem about self-assurance and authenticity. The accompanying music video, directed by Rohan Dill (known for his work with Dave and Jim Legxacy), reclaims traditionally male spaces such as football pitches and boxing rings, reinforcing the song’s message of empowerment. “Don’t change who you are for anyone,” Newman declares, summing up both the song and the spirit of the project.

The tracklist includes “FU & UF,” “Hairdresser,” “My Addiction,” “Out Out,” “Family Matters,” and “Smoke Rings.” Together, they weave a narrative that is both intimate and universal, blending soulful melodies with introspective lyricism.

Newman’s rapid rise has been remarkable. She has already surpassed 117 million global streams, with “Family Matters” achieving Gold certification and peaking at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart, where it remained in the Top 10 for 22 weeks. Her follow-up single “Hairdresser” also made waves, earning Silver certification and enjoying a 14-week run in the Top 40.

Additionally, her live performances have further cemented her reputation, with standout moments including the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, a special performance with Ed Sheeran in Ipswich, and a support slot on Lewis Capaldi’s arena tour. She has also sold out headline shows at London’s KOKO and Manchester’s O2 Ritz.

Reflecting on the project, Skye says, “It’s incredibly personal to me. It shows you the life I’ve lived so far.” With SE9 Part 1, she opens a new chapter—honest, fearless, and full of heart—cementing her place as one of the most promising voices to emerge from the UK this decade.
