Anticipation has been building for BEYONCÉ‘s 8th studio album COWBOY CARTER, set to release this Easter weekend. This project is a heartfelt nod to her Texan-country roots, infusing the genre with elements of her own recognizable culture. Despite its country influence, BEYONCÉ has made it clear that this is still a “BEYONCÉ album”.
The 27-song Cowboy Carter features a diverse range of artists, including legends like Willie Nelson, Linda Martell, and Dolly Parton, as well as emerging talents like Shaboozey, Brittney Spencer, and Tanner Adell. Notably, Beyonce’s 6-year-old daughter Rumi Carter also makes an appearance. The album showcases BEYONCÉ‘s unique interpretations of classics like Parton’s “Jolene” and the Beatles’ “Blackbird”.
Years in the making, this album represents a triumphant return for BEYONCÉ, overcoming barriers and prejudices within the country music industry. It shines a spotlight on the underrepresented black talent in the genre, sparking important discussions about recognition and inclusivity.
In a recent press briefing about the Renaissance follow-up, BEYONCÉ expressed her excitement and passion for this project BEYONCÉ said:
“This album took over five years. It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put ‘Cowboy Carter’ out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God’s timing.” “I think people are going to be surprised because I don’t think this music is what everyone expects, but it’s the best music I’ve ever made.”
