Onika Maraj, widely known as Nicki Minaj, currently on her Pink Friday 2 tour, is facing a lawsuit from her former day-to-day manager, Brandon Garrett, who alleges assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit stems from an incident that reportedly occurred on April 21st, 2024 at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena.

Garrett claims the altercation began when Minaj confronted him in her dressing room over having another tour employee, Luke Montgomery, collect her prescriptions.

According to the lawsuit, Minaj was visibly upset and allegedly screamed at Garrett: “Are you f—ing crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f—ing mind, and if my husband was here, he would knock out your f—ing teeth. You’re a dead man walking.”

Garrett further alleges that Minaj struck him “open-handedly” on the right side of his face, causing his head to swing backward and his hat to fly off. He also claims she struck his right wrist, leaving it in a “throbbing” state.

Following the alleged incident, Garrett reportedly flew to Chicago, where he filed a police report and requested a police escort to his hotel out of fear for his safety. He then remained at his hotel for several days before returning to Detroit to formally file another police report.

Minaj’s lawyer, Judd Burstein, denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit “completely false and frivolous.” In a statement to Variety, Burstein remarked:

“At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident the matter will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favour.”
