Taking to social media on Thursday, Oct. 28th, Zayn Malik addressed allegations leveled against him that he ‘struck’ his partner’s mother, Yolanda Hadid.
The ‘Steal My Girl’ singer released a statement via his Twitter account, where he appeared to address the alleged incident that he hit Yolanda during an altercation earlier this month.

While Yolanda’s name wasn’t mentioned in the statement, Zayn explained that the incident occurred when one of Gigi’s relatives paid them a visit while she was away, and according to TMZ, Yolanda was contemplating filing a police report, following the incident.
The ‘Drag Me Down’ singer also addressed his intentions to want to protect his daughter, by deciding not to address the allegations, but rather he hopes the public can give them the privacy required to deal with the issue privately.
“In an effort to protect that space for [my daughter] I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument….” adding, “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
However, Zayn went on to vehemently deny “striking” Yolanda in a statement to TMZ, stating:
“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
Although neither Gigi nor Yolanda have issued any statement addressing the claims or responded to Zayn’s statement to TMZ, sources told People magazine that the couple “are not together right now.”
They added: “They are both good parents though. They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
A rep for Gigi also stated that “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
