On Tuesday night, YouTube prankster Omer Majid broke into the villa complex in Mallorca, Spain, causing a security breach on the UK edition of Love Island.

The trespasser was removed right away, according to producers, after he managed to get past Love Island’s stringent security systems. This year’s incursion is especially terrible because the islanders are encased in a tightly regulated Covid-secure enclosure.

According to Deadline, Majid did not interact with any of the participants. Lifted Entertainment, which is owned by ITV Studios, has increased security on the premises to avoid further break-ins.

A Love Island spokeswoman said: “Last night a security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the villa with immediate effect. The safety of both our islanders and our production crew remains our primary concern.

“As part of our stringent COVID safety measures, the Villa area that was trespassed has been fully deep cleaned before being made accessible again to the islanders and crew.”

Majid appeared to have been in Mallorca, according to his Instagram Stories, and British tabloid publication The Sun obtained evidence of the break-in, which was reportedly aired live on Instagram.

Someone is heard yelling “you’re trespassing” in the shaky video, and Majid is seen being taken off the premises. However, Majid did not appear to have gained entry to the inside of the villa, which housed the participants.

Majid explained to Daily Star that he found an entry into the compound “via the trees and hills,” adding that, “they spotted my cameraman and told him to get out I then ran for the villa and called my friend so he could put me back on the live stream… They put code red on which meant locking everybody up that was cast.”
