AMAAL NUUX – THE MIDDLE
Amaal Nuux, an artist originally from Somalia but now based in Toronto, explores the concept of being caught in “The Middle” in her latest single. With a blend of Afro-fusion, Amaal showcases her captivating vocals and unique personality, emphasizing that she is not simply good or bad, but rather resides comfortably in the middle. This single marks her first release of 2023, following her EP “Milly” released in 2022. Amaal’s journey began in war-torn Mogadishu, where her family lived until they were compelled to flee as refugees in the early 1990s. Settling in Toronto, she embraced the poetic elements of her culture while challenging the conservative traditions that accompanied it, particularly the restrictive expectations imposed on women. As a teenager, Amaal found the courage to create her own music, but felt confined in terms of lyrical content. Consequently, she directed her creative energy towards politically and socially conscious material, drawing inspiration from her homeland and the hardships faced by her people. While this approach was undeniably powerful, Amaal yearned to express the entirety of her identity and personal narrative through her art.
IVY LO – NO MORE LOVE
Ivy Lo, a talented R&B/NEO-SOUL artist hailing from Monroe, Louisiana, recently unveiled her latest single titled “No More Love.” This captivating track highlights Ivy’s velvety vocals as she narrates a story of her past willingness to give her all to her significant other. However, after enduring heartbreaks and letdowns, Ivy has reached a point where she can no longer offer love. Born in 2002, Ivy Lo adopted her stage name from her mother and draws inspiration from renowned artists such as Sade, Janet Jackson, Jhene Aiko, Snoh Aalegra, and Jill Scott. As a passionate songwriter, Ivy has penned every song in her repertoire, focusing on themes of love, personal growth, imagination, and adventure. “No More Love” is a featured track on her newly released EP titled “Keep It Off My Mind.”
GEN BELLO – LOVE SO SWEET
Gen Bello, an R&B singer-songwriter from Harlem, has released a new audio called “Love So Sweet” from her EP, This Again. This song captures the feeling of being in love and the impact it can have on your emotions. With her breathtaking vocal performance and catchy pop hooks, Gen Bello is pushing the boundaries of music. Influenced by legendary female artists like Mary J. Pote Baby is an up-and-coming artist who is rapidly building a dedicated fanbase through his latest release, “Do It For Papi”.
