The longstanding rivalry between Nigerian Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Davido has once again boiled over into the public eye. In the latest chapter of their ongoing feud, Wizkid took to X (Twitter) to lash out at Davido, reigniting tensions between the two superstars.

With a history of clashes that spans years, their relationship seems further strained, dashing hopes for any future collaboration or previously hinted joint tour.

The latest flare-up occurred on October 1st, after a cryptic tweet by Tycoone, Davido‘s creative director, appeared to take a subtle jab at Wizkid. Tycoone’s tweet, which read, “Tell your Daddy to drop na,” was seen by many as an indirect dig at Wizkid, especially as the “Starboy” singer has been teasing the release of his first single off his upcoming album, Morayo.

The tweet immediately sparked reactions on social media, with fans speculating about whom it was aimed at. However, Wizkid wasted no time in responding, retweeting Tycoone’s post before launching into a series of cryptic but biting tweets, which appeared to target Davido directly.

One of the most notable tweets from Wizkid read: “P*ssy boys dropping mids again!,” a statement widely interpreted as a jab at Davido‘s latest music release. With Davido recently previewing his first single of the year, Wizkid’s timing and words were seen as a direct insult to the singer’s creative output.

The feud quickly took a personal turn, with Wizkid resurrecting an old insult aimed at Davido’s distinctive vocal tone. Wizkid mockingly referred to Davido as “Frogido,” a name rooted in their previous beef, where Wizkid likened Davido’s raspy singing voice to the sound of a frog. Wiz didn’t stop there, continuing his tirade with tweets calling Davido “wack” and “not talented,” after a fan insinuated Wiz is using Davido for clout ahead of his new album.

This isn’t the first time the two Afrobeats powerhouses have traded insults on social media. Back in April 2024, the two artists engaged in a fiery exchange of words, with Davido referring to Wizkid as a “sick man” during a heated X (Twitter) clash. The surprise of that outburst left many fans bewildered, especially since there had been discussions earlier in the year about a potential joint tour involving both artists—a monumental collaboration that now seems increasingly unlikely.

As of press time, Davido has yet to respond to Wiz’s remarks. Whether this feud will ever be resolved remains to be seen, but for now, the internet—and the Afrobeats world—will be watching closely as the drama unfolds.
