As reported by TMZ, the 57-year-old talk show host was hospitalized in NYC for a mental health evaluation. Despite reports that Williams was brought to the facility on Tuesday, other reports suggest she was taken at 8 a.m. Wednesday, soon after authorities arrived at her apartment complex.
According to a NYPD spokesperson who spoke to The-Sun:
“There was a call for a 57-year-old non-violent female who needed psychiatric services at that address on Wednesday morning. They were transported to the hospital.”
On Sept. 20, Williams was set to premiere season 13 of The Wendy Williams Show. Last week, the show’s producers revealed the news on Instagram, claiming that the titular host has been suffering from some health challenges and will be absent for some time as she seeks better health.
The statement read: “Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations.
“She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can’t wait to be back in her purple chair on Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere.”
Days after the statement was released on IG, the Wendy Show IG account released another statement saying that, Wendy, 57, had tested positive for COVID-19 and to permit her to quarantine, the show has been further postponed.
“While continuing her health evaluations, Wendy has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19,” the post read. “To allow Wendy time to quarantine and fully recover and to ensure that our production abides by all SAG/AFTRA and DGA Covid protocols, we expect to begin the 13th season of The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, October 4th. In the meantime, repeats will be scheduled,” the statement read.
Williams reportedly had COVID-19 after being vaccinated. TMZ reports she is asymptomatic but is still being checked.
Our thoughts are with Wendy Williams at this time and wish her a speedy recovery.
