Gymnastics fans globally will be excited to learn of Simone Biles’s return to the Olympics as the USA Gymnastics has confirmed that the six-time Olympic medalist will compete in the balance beam final on Tuesday, which will also be the penultimate day of artistic gymnastics in Tokyo.

Confirming the news, USA Gymnastics said: “We are very pleased to report that two US athletes will compete in tomorrow’s balance beam final – Suni Lee AND Simone Biles!! I can’t wait to see both of you!”

Biles was undoubtedly the favourite for this year’s Olympics women gymnastics with such a high possibility of winning five gold medals, but she withdrew from the women’s team final after losing herself in the air on her initial vault, citing mental health concerns.

Biles stated that she would re-evaluate her participation in each event on a day-by-day basis, and she then withdrew from the individual all-around, vault, uneven bars, and floor finals.

Biles addressed critics on Instagram, saying:

“For anyone saying I quit, I didn’t quit, my mind and body are simply not in sync as you can see here. I don’t think you realize how dangerous this is on a hard/competition surface.”

While prior mental blockages had largely hampered her vault and floor routines, Biles stated that this time they were impacting her in all events, particularly her twisting abilities

Biles has stated that she has spent time practicing in an undisclosed location in Tokyo, where she’s managed to safely practice her abilities in a foam pit. Since Biles’ withdrawal, she’s been noticeably vocal in her support for her teammates, who has since then won a number of medals, including two golds, a silver, and a bronze.

It will be something special if Biles manages to complete her routine uninterrupted for the first time in Tokyo. Keep it locked to YEEEAAH! Network for more updates.
