Fans of the late rapper have long been hoping for new material from the estate of XXXTentacion and true fans may very well be in luck.
The non-fungible tokens were created by XXXTentacion’s former manager Solomon “Sounds” Sobande and the rapper’s estate, which is owned by his mother Cleopatra Bernard. Sobande notes that the five songs aren’t brand new, despite the fact that they were previously unreleased and that they’re actually from when X was a SoundCloud phenomenon.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, XXX’s manager, Sobande said: “Although they were all big on SoundCloud, we never had the opportunity to monetize them or bring them off-platform. Some of these songs aren’t even on his SoundCloud page anymore. There are just the remnants of them being reposted. These were the songs that built his career and led up to the explosion he had.”
The NFTs will feature never-before-seen scenes from XXX’s REVENGE Tour, which was the rapper’s last tour before he was murdered, as well as commercially unreleased tracks. Stephen Bliss, the artist behind XXX’s favorite video game, Grand Theft Auto, will also design the artwork for the NFT.
The auction is scheduled to begin at noon ET on Monday and end at 12:00 p.m. ET on May 15. XXX was facing charges on allegations of domestic abuse at the time of his murder. For this reason, YellowHeart will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the estate’s XXXFoundation as well as unnamed charities that help women who have become victims of domestic abuse.
