Tyler the Creator is showing remorse for his past actions about how he treated Selena Gomez.
The rapper-comedian made the statement in his latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost, on the track “Manifesto,” which features Domo Genesis. Tyler’s problematic Twitter activity, especially the obscene and sexist tweets aimed at Gomez when she was in her late teens, is one of the numerous subjects addressed in the song.
Tyler rapped saying: “I was canceled before canceled was with Twitter fingers/Protestin’ outside my shows, I gave them the middle finger,” he raps. “I was a teener, tweetin’ Selena crazy shit/Didn’t wanna offend her, apologize when I seen her/Back when I was tryna fuck Bieber.”
While the aforementioned tweets were from a decade ago and have now been removed, the intensity of the rapper’s tweets managed to get him temporarily suspended.
Gomez had started dating Justin Bieber at the time of the explicit tweets, and Tyler was supposedly friendly with him. During a 2013 interview on Power 106, the ‘See You Again’ rapper addressed his grievances with Selena, alleging she was “mean muggin'” him anytime he was around Bieber.
Selena has yet to address Tyler’s apology nor his Twitter attack from a decade ago.
