Sky has canceled its TV series ‘Bulletproof’ after accusations of misconduct against one of its stars Noel Clarke. The broadcaster recently announced that work with the star, director, and producer has been halted as a result of the allegations.
The network has officially announced that there will be no more seasons of the show, which also stars Ashley Walters from Top Boy. “Sky will not be proceeding with any further series of Bulletproof,” a company spokeswoman said.
According to Variety, Vertigo Films has also stated that they “will not make any future series of ‘Bulletproof.”
Season four had already been developed and was in the pre-production process, according to the paper, when the allegations against Clarke were reported by The Guardian on April 29.
The newspaper revealed in its report that, 20 women who have worked with Clarke accused him of sexual harassment and bullying which they investigated. Many of the women accused Clarke of sexual harassment on the set of Doctor Who and at a promotional function, just days after the accusations surfaced.
Clarke’s attorneys wrote to The Guardian in a 29-page document that he “vehemently” opposes “any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing” and plans to fight “against these false allegations”.
Walters, 38, recently stated on social media that he was “in shock and deeply saddened by what I have heard on a multitude of levels” following the news. He added: “I could never condone behaviour of this nature neither in nor out of the workplace, and whilst Noel has been a friend and colleague for several years, I cannot stand by and ignore these allegations.”
This development comes after reports had Clarke suspended by BAFTA, following allegations.
“In light of the allegations of serious misconduct regarding Noel Clarke in The Guardian this evening, BAFTA has taken the decision to suspend his membership and the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award immediately and until further notice,” an Academy spokesperson said.
