The British DJ has been forced to step down from his Capital Xtra radio show after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, claiming Westwood exploited his influence in the music industry to abuse them.

Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations.

Global said in a statement, “Following the claims that have recently come to light, Tim Westwood has stepped down from his show until further notice.”

The news of Westwood’s exit comes shortly after The BBC and The Guardian released a joint investigation on Tuesday that included the testimonies of seven women who claimed to have been involved in alleged incidents between 1992 and 2017.

As a result of the allegations, upcoming gigs scheduled to take place in Birmingham and Bognor Regis have now been cancelled, with others likely to follow.

According to the alleged victims, the 64-year-old exhibited predatory sexual behavior and touched them unsolicited.

Speaking to BBC for its documentary ‘Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power,’ two of the women admitted to agreeing to meet Westwood in London to talk about music as they both wanted to work in the industry.

However, the then-53-year-old DJ reportedly drove them to a flat and forced them to engage in unwanted and unplanned sex, with one of them being 19 years old at the time.

Another woman told the BBC that she met Westwood, who was in his mid-30s at the time, when she was 17 and in an R&B group. She claims that after agreeing to see him, she was subjected to unsolicited oral sex.

Other accusations were leveled against Westwood by four young women who claim the DJ touched their bottoms or breasts while posing for photos with him at several events where he performed.

BBC director-general Tim Davie called the women’s testimony “powerful and appalling,” and urged anybody else with information to come public.

Mr. Davie claimed he had uncovered no record of complaints against the DJ made to the BBC during his time there.

According to a spokesperson for Westwood, he is a well-known and successful DJ who has categorically refuted all of the severe claims leveled against him.

He stated that he did not act in the manner described and that any assertion that he does or has done in the manner specified is untrue.
