Ellen DeGeneres has announced that her talk show, Ellen DeGeneres, will end its run in 2022. NBC is reportedly considering Tiffany Haddish as a replacement, according to Page Six.
Citing remarks from a senior NBC Universal staff, “Tiffany is a favorite, she has humor and empathy in spades. She’s top of the list to get a daytime show – she’s a fresh voice.”
Haddish filled in as a guest host when Ellen took a break from the show in October and has continued to host a number of guests in recent times.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen revealed her reason for ending her tenure after nearly 18 years.
“You may wonder why I’ve decided to end after 19 seasons. The truth is, I always trust my instincts,” she explained. “My instinct told me it’s time. As a comedian, I’ve always understood the importance of…timing. In all seriousness, I truly have felt like next season was the right time to end this amazing chapter.”
We appreciate when people know its time to call quits, as that speaks well to their mental capability to make definite decisions.
To be honest, having Haddish take over from Ellen will be an amazing change over for the show and it will be a welcomed one.
