As the buzz for NFTs grows on the internet, with the likes of Elon Musk, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and others unveiling their first NFT collections, even more celebrities, including The Weeknd, will be revealing their collections.

The NFT collection, created in conjunction with the Weeknd by Strange Loop Studios, will be available exclusively via Nifty Gateway, with a limited-time auction beginning April 3 at 2 p.m. ET. Three original artworks showcasing “a filtered segment of the new song” will be available in the first auction. This part would be limitless, but not the 24-hour auction of a one-of-a-kind item containing the entire album. The auction winner will be the only owner of the song outside of the Weeknd, since it is not expected to be published on any other platform at this time.

“Blockchain is democratizing an industry that has historically been kept shut by the gatekeepers,” The Weeknd said in a statement. “I’ve always been looking for ways to innovate for fans and shift this archaic music biz and seeing NFT’s allowing creators to be seen and heard more than ever before on their terms is profoundly exciting. I intend to contribute to this movement and can see that very soon it will be weaved into the music industry’s mechanics.”

Fans of the Canadian star are presumably only being treated to the first of many surprises from The Weeknd, following his recent cryptic tweet.
