If you didn’t know, Skepta, JME, Julie and Jason are siblings and each is doing the best to develop their platform within music and entertainment scenes.
Their mother Ify Adenuga recently published a memoir ‘Endless Fortune’ which gives us an insight into how she went from “a penniless student in a foreign country to becoming the mother of four of the most successful creatives working in Great Britain today.”
Skepta and JME are famous MCs, they were a part of grime’s second wave, helping to build the success of British rap via their record label Boy Better Know. They have also played huge stages at Glastonbury and Wireless.
Skepta has gone on to win the Mercury prize in 2016, has scored three Top 3 albums and has launched his fashion brand.
Julie, the only girl in the middle of boys, started as a presenter on Rinse FM to being announced as one of three main presenters on Apple radio station Beats 1.
Jason the youngest, was a producer on Skepta’s album ‘Konnichiwa,’ also as a graphic designer and artist, he worked on the album covers for both brothers. ‘
It is not shocking that all four are creative as they inherited it from their father, who studied architecture and as a child crafted yo-yos from beer cans and string. Interestingly, their father used to DJ house parties.
Their mother said, “They got all that skill, knowledge, creativity from him” and “They got their personality and being themselves from me.”
This is truly a creative and talented family.
