Earlier rumours suggested Teyana Taylor had retired from the music industry after being snubbed by Grammy’s once again but the multi-talented singer explained to the contrary.
Teyana took to her Instagram Live to clarify what was the reason for her decision. She said: “What that post was was toward my label that I’ve been signed to for almost 10 years.”
Taylor’s ‘The Album’ which was released in June was one of the favourites for 2020 and the artist explains her struggle with the label for the lack of support.
“Yes, I am gonna feel under-appreciated if I’m putting in 110% and they’re reciprocating 10 % of that. I constantly feel alone. I constantly feel unappreciated. I constantly feel failed because there’s literally no push.”
Feeling under-appreciated, she pleaded with her label (Def Jam) to drop her on “almost 10 different occasions. Just drop me, because at this point, I can’t let this kill me.”
Then continued: “I gotta do it for my mental health. I have to do it for my emotional health. I have to do it for my kids, so I can stay alive for my kids.”
