You can say this year is the year of Taylor Swift, with all the accolades she has gotten this year and now Taylor is free to re-record her original albums this month following her epic feud with Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records over her masters.
The feud started last year after Scooter bought her catalogue masters reportedly for more than $330 million. This included almost every piece of music Taylor recorded and released between 2006 and 2017, including her chart-topping albums ‘Red’ and ‘1989.’
Taylor accused Braun of “incessant manipulative bullying” and claimed she was “sad and grossed out” when it came out that Braun controlled her master records, before he claimed that he had “no malicious intent” and “did everything aboard.”
Speaking on Good Morning America last summer, Taylor confirmed that she was re-recording her old records and explained that she could do so this November.
Fans of Taylor Swift around the world are celebrating this moment on social media with the hashtag ‘#TaylorIsFree,’ as today is November 1st.
