After years of anticipation, SZA fans have been treated to fresh music, and per Chart Data, the singer-songwriter is heading straight to the top with “S.O.S.”
According to first-week projections provided by HitsDailyDouble, the project is on set to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, making it SZA’s first No. 1 album. SOS is estimated to sell between 275,000 and 300,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, making it the year’s sixth or seventh biggest debut.

SZA’s debut studio album, “Ctrl,” which was released in 2017, debuted and peaked on the Billboard 200 at No. 3 with 60,000 units sold in its first week.
According to Chart Data, the 23-track album – which features the likes of Travis Scott, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Phoebe Bridgers, and others – has an impressive score of 94, matching Rosalia’s MOTOMAMI for the most critically praised record of the year.

Making her appearance on Complex’s cover story ahead of the album’s release, SZA opened up about not wanting to be rushed with the release of S.O.S.
She explained, “I appreciate [my fans] patience, but constantly trying to people-please and fulfill expectations instead of just thinking about what you need can deter you from your true path. And the next thing you know you’re somebody that you never signed up to be. Even with this album, I just wanna be better than my last project to myself. I wanna be a better writer. I wanna be a better artist, musician… a better thinker. I just wanna do things that make myself proud and interested.”
With all that said, it appears her strategy is working out amazingly.
