Swizz Beatz was arguably one of X’s best mates as its been proven many times during their friendship and as such, no one was in a better position to call out fake friends of the late rapper.

As previously reported, Swizz took a shot at so-called friends of the late Ruff Ryder legend as he claimed none of them were there for X during his troubling times.

Now, the super-producer is dishing on his reasons for calling out fake friends of X during his funeral ceremony.

Swizz clarified that his remarks were not directed at DMX’s fans during an interview with Angie Martinez. Instead, he was conversing with others who had ties to X but had rejected him when he wanted love.

“From the fans’ standpoint, X got a lot of love. It’s just the other love he was looking for I don’t think he got a lot of,” Swizz said during the interview. “And that’s what made me want to say what I said at his homegoing because I was dealing with a lot of that.

And I was with X a lot. Especially, recently. So I was very current in his life and understanding where he was at and what he was going through. So when I started seeing things, naturally as his brother, it just bothered me.”

Swizz went on to say that X’s debut on Verzuz with Snoop Dogg rekindled his desire to make new music for fans again when he saw how the youth reacted positively to him.

“We stayed [in LA] and finished the album at Snoop’s studio after Verzuz,” Swizz went on to say, “I was like, ‘Let’s keep all the new music he was excited about moving.’”

Continues: “I wouldn’t even call it an album, I would definitely call it a masterpiece. … It’s a well-deserved masterpiece.”

Swizz explains to Martinez that Verzuz’s new partnership with Triller would enable them to develop a business model that caters to creatives while still entertaining fans.

“The future of Verzuz is very big,” Swizz said. “The biggest reason [for the Triller deal] was because we can bring our friends with us.

All the other places that was a hard structures to bring into those ecosystems. … For creatives to have control we have to change the things we don’t like that businesses do to us. … We had to go with the team that would allow us to have the freedom that we want.”

More power to Swizz for his openness and willingness to do and say what’s needed. Listen to the full interview below.
