Ghanaian star Shatta Wale is making headlines once more, and he has a message for critics who are claiming his latest track, “Cash Out,” appears to be a copy of Burna Boy’s song.
The composition of the track and its delivery are reminiscent of Burna Boy’s approach. Ghanaian fans have criticized and made fun of the “Taking Over” hitmaker over the similarities, alleging that he is trying to grab a hit by imitating the Nigerian Afrobeats giant.
Shatta Wale responded to the criticism by saying that anyone who makes such claims simply does not understand music and that they need to “just shut up.”
“Your brother drops song and it’s doing well. Instead of supporting the song, Ghanaians are busy saying he copied Burna Boy. It’s a shame… Let me tell you something if you don’t know music just shut up. Everybody sings and everybody does music,” Shatta Wale remarked in his address.
Shatta’s statement follows that of Camidoh, who also faced backlash for allegedly copying his Nigerian counterparts both in music and style.
Ghanaian Afropop star Camidoh also previously agreed with Shatta’s point of view, telling Pulse Nigeria that only ignorant fans would accuse him of imitation because he isn’t just singing for Ghanaians.
