Many sports enthusiasts were looking forward to the epic battle between US sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson and Jamaican Olympic medalists Shericka Jackson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, but they would be greatly disappointed once the race of the year took place today.
For the once-impressive sprinter finished last in her return appearance to racing, facing off against the Olympic medalists, amongst others, at the Prefontaine Classic.
Prior to her race today, Sha’Carri has been hyped up, anxiously waiting to prove herself against the Jamaican trio, and while she was beaten in this race, the sprinter declared during a post-race conference that she was defiant, not defeated.
“This is one race. I’m not done. You know what I’m capable of. Count me out if you want to. Talk all the sh*t if you want. she said. ‘Cause I’m here to stay. I’m not done. I’m the sixth fastest woman in this (entire) game…ever! And can’t nobody ever take that from me.”

While confidence is needed in sports, the gap between Sha’Carri and the Jamaicans was absurd for a sprinter with so much hype around her. Nevertheless, as she said, it’s not quite over yet if she can overcome the pressure currently being mounted on her.
What are your thoughts on Sha’Carri’s first race back with her peers?
