Sha’Carri Richardson’s unfortunate saga was thought to be over until perhaps the next Olympics, but that is not the case, as the athlete was recently offered a large sum of money by a vape company.
Richardson was offered a $250,000 stipend by Dr. Dabber to become one of the company’s ambassadors.
“We were saddened to learn of your recent suspension from the US Track and Field team, due to THC,” the company wrote in an offer letter, adding that “we believe that THC can actually have many positive effects on an athlete’s recovery and overall mental wellbeing.”
Dr. Dabber continued, “Considering your talent and grace over these past weeks, we would love to offer you the opportunity to work with our team as a spokesperson for Dr. Dabber. This entails testing our award-winning dab rigs and vape pens as a resident ‘doctor.’”
The opportunity comes after the athlete lost her spot on the US Olympic team for testing positive for marijuana use during a routine test for the Tokyo Olympics.
During the press release for Sha’Carri’s removal from the team, the USATF acknowledged that the current World Anti-Dopping Agency’s guidelines require a makeover, only that, until then, all athletes must adhere to the rules.
