Fans of ’Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ will be pleased to know that, the highly-acclaimed film will be getting a reboot, only that it won’t be heading to the theatres any time soon.
Rogen tweeted on Tuesday that his remake would be published on Aug. 11, 2023, along with a snapshot of a piece of paper with some illegible scribbles, presumably from Leonardo’s viewpoint.

Nickelodeon will produce with Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, which he co-founded with longtime partner Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. The script will be written by Brendan O’Brien, who also wrote Neighbors and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and directed by Jeff Rowe. Rowe most recently worked on Netflix’s The Mitchells vs. the Machines as a co-director and writer.
The news comes after the remake was announced in June 2020. Brian Robbins, president, ViacomCBS Kids & Family Entertainment, called the comedian’s participation a “next-level reinvention of the property,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking to Insider, Rogen said of the film: “When I look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the teenage part was weirdly what stuck out to me the most.
I think one thing we’ve been pretty consistently good at over the years is creating material about teenagers from Blockers, Good Boys, and Superbad. That was really what became exciting for us is how do we make a great action-adventure movie that’s also a great teenage movie.”
Rogen’s version of the film will serve as the follow-up to 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows which was produced by Michael Bay and grossed $245.6 million at the box office.
