Rick Martin once again faces another lawsuit, which was reportedly filed by the singer’s same nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin, who previously withdrew his “domestic abuse” and “incest” accusations against his uncle.
The lawsuit, which was filed on Friday (Sept. 9) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with an undisclosed complainant, has been reported to be from Sánchez, according to Associated Press. It’s worth noting that the new complaint comes only days after he was sued by his uncle for defamation.
In a new statement obtained by Deadline, Martin’s lawyer José Andréu-Fuentes vehemently denies all claims, saying:
“These claims are wildly offensive and completely untethered from reality. When this man previously made similar allegations, his legal case had to be withdrawn – not least because he himself admitted under oath that Ricky Martin had never assaulted him in any way.”
Adding, “Now, after being sued for trying to extort Mr. Martin, he is attempting to spread his lies again. It is beyond time that the media stops giving this deeply troubled individual the oxygen of publicity and allows him to get the help he so clearly needs.”
The 50-year-old singer claimed in his lawsuit that his nephew – who was previously granted a restraining order following his domestic abuse claims before being later revoked after he withdrew his accusations – had yet to stop with the harassment, since withdrawing his restraining order and that he’s been messaging him for months now via Instagram, threatening to “assassinate his character and integrity” until he paid up.
Martin’s lawyer claimed in the lawsuit, “The reckless, malicious and culpable actions by Defendant Sanchez were motivated by the desire to expose Plaintiff to hatred and disdain from his fanbase, to threaten his business opportunities and to destroy his reputation.”
