Nearly a month after British singer Raye took to social media to share a series of emotional tweets with fans, updating them about a supposed hold back from her label, the ‘Walk On By’ singer has just announced her departure from Polydor.

In the statement released to her socials on Monday night, the 23-year-old, who had been signed to Polydor since 2014, based the parting on “different goals artistically.”

The statement which was captioned “Just a little Croydon girl with a dream,” read: “Today I am speaking to you as an independent artist.”

“Polydor and I have spoken and have agreed to part ways.

She went on: “I want to say a big thank you to the Polydor team, and all the individuals who have fought for me, believed in me and worked so hard for me across the years.

“Polydor are an incredible infrastructure powerhouse team, unfortunately we have different goals artistically and I am very grateful to them for giving me a graceful, smooth exit to start my next chapter as an artist.”

The split comes weeks after the ‘Secrets’ singer spilled on her current status with her label, saying she was “sick of being slept on” by Polydor in a series of emotional tweets at the end of June.

Well with the old comes something new, and we hope for the best in all future endeavours as every artist deserves to feel wanted and appreciated in their label.

Raye has recently made some strides in the music industry with the most recent being her nomination for best British song at the Brit Awards earlier this year for her 2020 collaboration with Regard on the track ‘Secrets,’ although losing the award to Harry Styles’ ‘Watermelon Sugar.’
